Tube Time

We booked two cabins at the Rio Guadalupe Resort & RV Park just outside of Gruene, pronounced “green”. After unloading the vehicles, it was time to hit the water. It was only a short walk to the river bank. Once there, the only way to get into the water is to jump. It is so cold that if you inched your way in, you would never get all the way in.

The next morning after a hearty breakfast we set out on a three hour tube trip. The length of the trip depends on the water level of the river. A bus at the campground will transport you and your tube upriver, so you can leisurely float back to camp. Be sure to pack snacks, drinks, and plenty of sunscreen.

Also be sure and take along a goody sack. There is no telling what treasures you will find as you float. We found several pair of sunglasses, googles, a couple hats, a knife, towels, a t-shirt, bungee cords, and a cell phone.
